These 6-door fridges were ( mostly hand- ) made in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, in Brasil, in the period between 1930 - 1960. They were originally meant for professional use : in restaurants, bars and exclusive foodshops. Nowadays there few pieces left and they are mostly in deplorable shape. Since about 10 years ago *CASA do LADO* takes pride in tracking down these old "GELADEIRAS' to restore them. Over the years we have succeeded with carefully developed skills in bringing back many of these eyecatching "iceboxes" to operation in their original state. The housing of the fridges was made of the finest " Peroba do Campo ", a noble wood that unfortunately has become very rare in the world.
