fully restored 6 door wooden fridge

These fridges were ( mostly hand- ) made in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, in Brasil, in the period between 1930 - 1960.
They were originally meant for professional use : in restaurants, bars and exclusive foodshops.
Nowadays there about 200 pieces left and they are mostly in deplorable shape.

Since about 10 years ago *CASA do LADO* takes pride in tracking down these old 'GELADEIRAS' to restore them.
Over the years we have succeeded with carefully developed restoration skills in bringing back many of these eyecatching "iceboxes" to operation in their original state.

The housing of the fridges was made of the finest " Peroba do Campo ", a noble wood that unfortunately has become very rare in the world.

For restoring we are using the original materials like recycled peroba wood and the brass hinges and lockers.
The cooling devices are the only parts adapted to the modern standards because of environmental demands.

The motors are normally mounted on top of the fridges like in the old days ( of course we can make amendments to client's wishes ).

Each of these boxes has an own identity and size and therefore is unique.
The only way to categorize them is by amount of doors (2, 4, and 6).

Right now we have 2-, 4- and 6-doors-refrigerators in restoration, so if you want to know more about them :
